What is Anki?
Anki is a free, open-source flashcard program that uses spaced repetition — it shows you cards right before you'd forget them, making your study time dramatically more effective. It runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android.
What makes these decks different from free alternatives?
Every word is ranked by real-world frequency, so you learn the most useful vocabulary first. Each card includes native audio, IPA pronunciation, CEFR level tags, and example sentences — details that free decks almost never have.
How are the words ranked by frequency?
We analyze large corpora of real text — news, literature, subtitles, web content — to determine how often each word appears. The result: word #42 (szép) is far more useful than word #8,000 (hümmögni). You learn what matters first.
What's included in each tier?
Every tier includes frequency-ranked words, native audio, and IPA. Higher tiers add example sentences, contextual usage notes, and frequency rank metadata. The Free Starter (300 words) gives you the most common vocabulary — enough to understand ~65% of everyday text.
